Coven of Evil is the soundtrack to the 2020 horror film from Macabre Pictures about a young investigative journalist sucked into a spiraling vortex of witchcraft, sex magic and satanism.

This original score by Steve Kilpatrick includes nods to well-known orchestral horror soundtracks, while, at the same time, incorporating Doom Metal and EDM.

“While working on this film, I was drawing primarily on influences from soundtracks dealing with both satanism and folk horror. Jerry Goldsmith’s wonderful soundtrack to The Omen was a big inspiration, as was Sidney Sager’s Children of the Stones and Antón García Abril’s Blind Dead series.

“During the period we worked on Coven of Evil, I was also touring as the bassist with the band Even Vast as support for Italian Ritualistic Doom Metal band Nibiru. This kind of slow, droning, hypnotic guitar music seemed like the perfect accompaniment to a satanic ritual, and so I incorporated my own take on this genre as we follow The Procession to the point of sacrifice among the sacrificial space of the stones.”
